COUNCILLORS will again consider controversial plans for a massive egg laying farm in a village near York this afternoon - five months after they approved the scheme at a farcical meeting.
City of York Council’s planning committee first voted against the £1.2 million development at Wheldrake, then failed to agree on reasons for refusal and promptly approved it on another vote - to the dismay of 20 protesters at the meeting.
Members are today considering reserved matters such as access and landscaping.
One resident, Ben Gilligan, claimed these were important issues and little had been done to assure residents their concerns would be addressed, but he belived the plans by Chris Hobson should not have been approved in the first place.
He said more than 200 objections were raised over issues including the traffic impact of additional HGVs, the development’s proximity to the school and its construction on greenbelt land.
