CONTROVERSIAL transport app Uber looks set to launch in York.

The firm is advertising for a ‘passionate, collaborative, and process-oriented individual who is an expert in providing a top quality experience to Uber’s partner-drivers visiting Activation Centre offices on a daily basis.’

It says the position reports to a partner support centre manager in the city, with a requirement to keep the centre running on a day-to-day basis.

“The ideal candidate has an extensive understanding of what is required to run a high-pace retail or hospitality-style operation that is operational for up to 12 hours per day up to 7 days per week,” says the advert on Uber’s website.

Uber’s app, which allows customers with smartphones to submit a trip request, with a software program then automatically sending the Uber driver nearest to the consumer, has been seen as a challenge to traditional taxi firms.

Uber drivers use their own personal cars.
