ROYAL Shakespeare Company actor Miles Richardson and ex-EastEnders soap star James Alexandrou will lead the cast for Giles Croft's revival of Anthony Shaffer's thriller Sleuth at West Yorkshire Playhouse, Leeds, from September 28 to October 15.

Richardson will play rich and successful mystery writer Andrew Wyke, whose obsession with playing games is in danger of losing him everything. Matters take a surprising turn when he lures his wife's lover Milo (Alexandrou) to his country house to take part in a specially created challenge.

Nothing is what it seems in this game of cat and mouse, but perhaps the arrival of Inspector Doppler will help untangle fact from fiction, deception from truth and murderer from victim.

Miles Richardson has appeared on stage in the West End and in numerous repertory companies around the country as well as touring both at home and abroad. He spent five years with the RSC, most notably as part of the multi award-winning Histories Ensemble. Among his other theatre credits are roles in Twelve Angry Men, Death Of A Salesman, An Inspector Calls and A Doll's House.

James Alexandrou

James Alexandrou appeared as Martin Fowler in EastEnders for ten years. His theatre credits include DNA for Hull Truck Theatre, All Quiet On The Western Front, Othello, Romeo And Juliet and Henry V.

Playhouse artistic director James Brining says: "Sleuth is a Tony award-winning classic thriller which is ripe for a revival in Yorkshire. It holds the audience in an increasingly tense grip, as the friendly rivalry between Andrew and Milo becomes decidedly unfriendly. We heartily welcome back director Giles Croft, whose last production of The Kite Runner proved so popular when it came to Leeds."

Sleuth, a co-production with Nottingham Playhouse, will be staged in the Quarry Theatre, West Yorkshire Playhouse, Leeds, September 28 to October 15. Box office: 0113 213 7700 or at wyp.org.uk
