THINGS will soon be looking different at Northallerton town hall – but help is needed to make the interior look its very best.
As a local community project the Thirsk and District Lions are redecorating the ornate main hall of the landmark building on the High Street - giving it a fresh coat of paint for the first time in many years.
A number of Lions members and local councillors have all rolled up their sleeves to wield brushes - but more help is needed and volunteers this week would be appreciated.
The local Wickes store is doing its bit by donating all the paint, brushes and materials while two other local companies, SHC and Anchorage Hire, have loaned the scaffolding towers needed to get to the high ceilings.
Lions member – and local town councillor – John Forrest said: “Basically we’d like to have some help at the step-ladder level, helping to paint the walls, rather than getting people up on the scaffolding to paint the ceiling.”
The work will be continuing all this week at the town hall. Anyone interested in helping can contact John Forrest on 07899 780288.
