THE LARGEST ever act to take to the stage at York Barbican was the 800-strong Rock Choir in a fundraising night for Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
The group had the audience on their feet to the sounds of well-known pop anthems including Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen and Rather Be by Jess Glynne.
The evening, on Saturday, July 23, raised £1,120 for the air ambulance.
York Rock Choir leader Steve Brown said: “All of the hard work that the choir members have put into this event has led to an incredible performance and an amazingly connected audience.
“I am so proud to be a part of Rock Choir and know that there will be many more great events happening over the coming years. Huge well done to all that took part, and thank you to those that helped put it all together.”
Rock Choir is the UK’s largest contemporary choir, with more than 23,000 members in 320 communities, performing throughout the year for charity. There are no auditions, requirements to read music or to have any previous experience, and members learn specially-arranged music.
