A CYCLIST who collided with a lorry in York city centre has internal and facial injuries, and also 'various' broken bones, say police.

The man, who was taken to Leeds General Infirmary by road ambulance after the accident on Tuesday morning in Piccadilly, is in a 'stable' condition, said a spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Police.

The crash happened at about 10am at the junction with Dixon Lane, a cycle track and footpath linking Piccadilly with George Street.

The scene was cordoned off and the road closed to traffic for several hours after the accident, while police officers carried out an investigation.
