GUY Whatmore's fine 87 helped Thorp Arch & Boston Spa earn a winning draw at top of the table Pannal in the Hunters York & District Senior League Galtres division two.

George Gibson (64) and Eshaan Kapour (45*) also contributed as the travelling side complied 281-5.

Despite Andy Ellis (108) hitting a ton, and the prolific Rob Smith 62, Pannal closed on 260-5.

Ripon closed the gap on leaders Pannal with an eight-wicket win at home against Duncombe Park.

Batting first, the visitors had James Skelton (44), and Brian Leckenby (47) to thank for the bulk of their 136 all out, whilst Ben Crewe grabbed 5-19 for Ripon.

Robert Taylor (69*) and Matt Morton (50*) saw the home side to victory after the loss of a couple of early wickets.

Third-placed Woodhouse Grange II beat Thirsk by six wickets to keep in touch with the leaders after Alex Burton had taken 6-56 to help restrict visiting Thirsk to 202-9 – despite the efforts of Mark Cook (65), and Stuart Christon (59). Following on from the previous Sunday’s Readman Trophy win, Matt Durkin top scored with 77, and David Suddaby hit 54 for the home side.

Sessay II (165-4) came out on top in the local derby at Back Lane as they beat home side Easingwold II (163 all out) by six wickets.

Charles Ramsey (35) top scored as Easingwold were held back by some tight bowling led by James Easton (4-29).

In the second innings, Sessay were led home by Matthew Wass (36), Paul Flintoff (26*), and Liam Ormston (52*).

Nearly 600 runs were scored in a high-scoring affair at Hovingham Hall after the home side racked up a mammoth 335-1.

After the loss of an early wicket, Richard Swann (137*), and Richard Bowling (147*) put on an unbroken second wicket partnership of 324 which included 36 fours and four sixes to set visiting Wetherby a very challenging target.

In reply, skipper Paul Horsey (142) also hit a ton as Wetherby had a good go at getting something out of the game, but in the end were restricted somewhat by Charlie Prest (4-20) and Tom Lund (4-49) as they hung on at 260-9.

Sheriff Hutton Bridge II (140-5) grabbed a five-wicket win on their travels to Tadcaster Magnet (136 all out) as they continue to stay in touch with the leaders.

Simon McNamara (30), and Nadeem Shefta (26) top scored for Magnets, whilst Mike Smith took 3-41 for the visitors. The Bridge winning reply was led by Louis Foxton (34), Harry Sutcliffe (32*), and David Bradshaw (27) – Ed Day weighing in with 3-24 for Tadcaster.

Dringhouses II landed their first win of the season in Galtres division three with a comprehensive win at home to Heworth III after posting 268-4 declared, and then bowling out their guests for 127.

Star of the show was 16-year-old Luke Edwards, on loan from Castleford, who hit an unbeaten 146 having never previously scored a senior 50, and only scored 16 runs all season for his parent club.

Peter Fairburn (35), and Steve Gillies (31) top scored for Heworth.

New Earswick (96-6) extended their lead at the top after a low-scoring victory at home to third-placed Stillington (92 all out).

Steve Crowder (27) top scored for the visitors whilst Martyn Hewitson took 3-16.

Despite Wayne Linton weighing in with 3-21, New Earswick were steered home by Tom Hewer’s unbeaten 27 to take maximum points.

Woodhouse Grange III (166 all out) had a trio of experienced players to thank for their 65-run win at home to Sheriff Hutton (101 all out) as Stuart Craven (32) and Des Wyrill (28) led the way with the bat – despite youngster Ed Ramsden bagging 4-29.

The third of the trio, Russell Bilton, took 3-30 and Jonty Goddard 4-29 in the second innings despite Andy Frank hitting 39 for Sheriff Hutton.

Rowntrees & Huntington's Steve Beales took 5-14, and Dan Waterworth 4-18 as home side York were shot out for 35 whilst chasing the 148 posted by the visitors, for whom Tom Shaw hit 92 to give his side full points.

Osbaldwick II retained top position in Galtres division four following a convincing seven-wicket win at home against fellow York side New Earswick II, who batting first had posted 131 all out.

Tim Richardson (51) was Earwick's top scorer, with Dave Lockwood contributing 25, whilst Chris Hammerton bagged 3-19 for the home side.

Osbaldwick (133-3) were led home by Phil Hall (73) and Jake Cartledge (38), who put on 91 for the first wicket.

Dave Martin hit 108 as Copmanthorpe II (192-8) successfully chased down the 191-9 posted by hosts Duncombe Park II at Helmsley, for whom Josh Butler top scored with 70 and Joel Arnold took 4-34 for the visitors.

Batting first, Hovingham II posted 228-7 with Richard John (89) again amongst the runs as the home side total proved too much for Sheriff Hutton II (141 all out) after Henry Smith had grabbed 4-8 to ensure maximum points.

Stillington II took the bulk of the points in their local derby against Huby II at York Road when batting first they racked up 181-7 thanks in main to Joe Adams (30*), Tim Adams (31), and Neil Haines (31).

In the second innings, visiting Huby were restricted to 118-9 with James Pocklington 28 not out. Joe Adams backed up his batting display with 3-29, and Ben Wood 3-20.
