PROFESSIONAL diver and Olympian Alicia Blagg paid a visit to a primary school in York and gave an inspirational talk to pupils.
Alicia was welcomed at Headlands Primary School in Haxby, where she talked about her selection for the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympic Games and showed her Commonwealth Games gold medal.
She is England’s youngest national champion in three-metre diving and landed her first international title in 2014, teaming up with Rebecca Gallantree to win the three-metre synchro gold at the Commonwealth Games.
Headlands head teacher, Sarah Wright, who used to teach Alicia at a school in Leeds, said: “She was absolutely inspirational. She talked about having talent being one thing but you need to work really hard and persevere. The children were enraptured.”
