Osbaldwick Beck in York has had a tidy-up thanks to volunteers in the area.
Six from the Hull Road Ward Green Team spent an afternoon picking up rubbish, and collected more than 1,500 bits of litter dropped around streets including 52 plastic bottles and 60 aluminium cans.
The work party was organised by Green Party campaigner John Cossham, who said: "I cannot understand why some people just drop their waste on the ground without a thought about who might have to pick it up. With government cuts meaning the council may not be able to afford street and park cleaners, it will be volunteers like us who clean up after them."
More sessions will be organised this summer, contact office@yorkgreenparty.org, or find Hull Road Ward Green Team on Facebook for details.
