YORKSHIRE’S oldest pygmy goat has become a great-grandmother with the arrival of two baby pygmy goats at Easingwold’s Maize Maze.
The pair will join Daisy, 19, as some of the star attractions at the maze, which opens at 10am next Monday.
Farmer and maze owner Paul Caygill said Daisy was now just three years away from eclipsing McGinty, Britain’s oldest goat who died in Hayling Island in Hampshire in 2003 having lived to 22 years and five months, earning a place in the Guinness World Records.
He said Daisy, who has been a fixture at the maze since it first opened in 2003, was the matriarch of a big family that continued to grow, adding: “I am sure all of the visitors to the Maze will be delighted to see how well Daisy is doing.”
