THE latest lineup for Selby Town Hall has been confirmed, and will include a strong mix of music, comedy and drama.

Among the visitors to the arts centre will be Peggy Seeger, member of the Seeger folk dynasty, Tyneside rockers Lindisfarne, and 80s star Roachford.

Comedian Jo Caulfield, a regular on Have I Got News For You and Mock The Week, will perform her latest show The Customer Is Always Wrong, at the venue on Sunday, November 27, while author Gervase Phinn will host an evening looking back at his life and career in radio, television and as a lecturer, on December 10.

A dramatic interpretation of the Bradford City fire will hear first-person accounts from the survivors when The 56 is performed in Selby on Saturday, September 10, while family adventure Cardboard Joe And The Book Of Mysteries on September 25 features live animation, music and storytelling as the audience decide what direction the story takes, in a show commissioned specially for Selby Town Hall by the Small Venues Network with funding from Arts Council England.

Chris Jones, arts officer for Selby Town Council, said: “There’s a really wide variety of entertainment on offer from the chart topping sounds of Hazel O’Connor, Lindisfarne, Roachford and The Blow Monkeys to thrilling newcomers like Sam Lee, Sofie Hagen and New York blues sensation Sari Schorr with her band The Engine Room.

“This is also the strongest theatre programme the Town Hall has hosted in years, with Lung Theatre’s acclaimed verbatim play The 56, exploring the tragic events of 1985’s Bradford City fire, multi-award winning love story Spillikin, which features a robot in one of the leading roles, and the international smash hit Every Brilliant Thing, performed by Radio 4’s Jonny Donahoe and fresh from a 17-week run in New York.” For more information or to book tickets, visit the town hall, go to selbytownhall.co.uk or phone 01757 708449.
