"WE say Simon, you say Webbe!" That's how support band Hoodman, the first signing to Simon's new record label UK Team, warmed up the crowd before Simon graced the stage.

Amid strobe lighting and drum beats, Simon emerged, dressed in a style reminiscent of the Rat Pack.

It was goodbye Simon, member of boy band Blue, and hello Simon Webbe, a fully fledged solo artist.

It has been two years since Blue split, and in that time he has released two big-selling albums, Sanctuary and Grace, but never done a full-scale solo tour until now.

Backed by a five-piece band, four backing singers and an MC, he kicked off with Sanctuary in front of a sold-out audience.

Following a slow and soulful start he moved up a gear, raising the roof by covering Oasis's Wonderwall, The Killers' When You Were Young, and most unexpectedly Muse's Supermassive Black Hole.

With no mention of his time in Blue, he did, however, honour them with a montage of their greatest hits.

Old and new songs, along with unreleased tracks, left us all wanting more, even after nearly two hours.

His interaction with the audience was assured, although he says he "gets nervous when he has to talk".

Thanking everyone for making his dreams of playing in Harrogate a reality, he expressed a strong belief in supporting young British talent, before ending with No Worries.

Smiling fans left with no worries that Simon would be around for a long time.
