A YORK man is to appear in court over historic sex offences dating back more than 50 years.
Dennis Young, aged 89, of Burton Court, York, has been charged over alleged sexual offences at a Nottinghamshire school in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
Young was charged on Thursday, June 30 with nine counts of indecently assaulting a child aged under 14, at Skegby Hall School, in Skegby, Sutton-in-Ashfield, near Mansfield, between October 1958 and December 1961.
The charges come from an investigation by officers from Nottinghamshire Police’s Operation Equinox, and all relate to the same victim.
Young will appear at Mansfield Magistrates Court on Wednesday, August 3.
Operation Equinox is the Nottinghamshire Police's name for the on-going investigation of allegations of historical abuse of children at children’s homes and other institutions in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
