IN support of John Slingsby’s letter (The Press, June 27) I find it disgusting that there are so many bus stops without lay-bys.

Since the departure of conductors, buses cannot move off until all passengers have boarded (and paid). This can take a long time, with all traffic behind being held up, causing much more pollution that apparently is of grave concern to the council.

Well if they’re so worried, why not start a rolling program to install lay-bys at every bus stop unless totally impractical?

Are we led to believe that the omission of a lay-by at the new road layout at Clifton Moor is merely an oversight, or yet another anti-car measure?

In all my years as a taxi driver I have not known the council do one thing to improve traffic flow, but I could fill a book with things they’ve done and still are doing things to interrupt it.
