TICKETS for York’s Annual Community Carol Concert at the York Barbican will go on sale on Friday, July 1.

Now in its 59th year, the Carol Concert on Sunday, December 11 will feature first-time appearances from Military Wives Choir York, Archies Boys Aloud, Huntington Primary Academy Choir and Lord Deramore’s Primary School Choir, along with concert regular Steve Cassidy.

The Shepherd Group Concert Brass Band will accompany the community carols, conducted by assistant musical director Mike Pratt.

Rev Andrew Foster will host the event, while musical director John Warburton will wield the baton for his 38th appearance at the Carol Concert.

Graham Bradbury, a member of the organising committee, said: "Don’t forget to book your seat for this great community festive event, full of fun and high quality local talent providing your musical entertainment.

"What better way to start your Christmas celebrations."

Tickets cost £7.50 for adults, £6 for children under the age of 14 and OAPs. A family ticket costs £24 for two adults and two children, including a free carol sheet and programme.

Proceeds from the event, which will be staged at 2.30pm on December 11, support the Lord Mayor and Sheriff of York’s Christmas Cheer Fund and The Press Community Appeal.
