THE Sitting Room Comedy Club returns to the Monkbar Hotel in York on July 7 for its last gig ahead of a summer sojourn. In the spotlight will be Jo Caulfield and Damian Clark, both previewing their Edinburgh Fringe shows.

Promoter Tom Taylor says: “Schools are almost out and we have just one show left in York before our summer break. I wanted to finish the season on a high, especially considering all the current political and football woes, and we're certainly doing that with this show. Come and get away from it all with a laugh and giggle.

"Jo and Damian make for a great double bill. I've already seen both their shows as work-in-progress previews and they were fantastic. It’s going to be an excellent evening of comedy.”

Jo Caulfield has made her mark on Mock The Week, Michael McIntyre’s Roadshow, The John Bishop Show, Have I Got News for You and Fighting Talk, and now she turns her attention to her new live show, Pretending To Care.

“One of my favourite acts, Jo is a Fringe favourite and her solo shows always sell out, so this is a great chance to see one of the best comics we have in this country. I’m absolutely thrilled she has agreed to come and play York.”

York Press:

Damian Clark

The high-octane Damian Clark opens next Thursday's double bill with his "infectious energy and charmingly childlike outlook". On moving to Britain from Australia in 2012, he was snapped up pronto to appear on BBC3 and Comedy Central and was handpicked to support Jack Dee and Kevin Bridges on national tours.

Tom says: "Last September, Damian performed at our relaunch gig and absolutely smashed it, so it's a pleasure to welcome him back to preview his new show, Can’t Slow Down. Nominated for The New Barry Award, it's a hurricane hour of stand-up, and spending an hour in his company is a joyful experience not to be missed.”

Tickets for the 8pm show at the Monkbar Hotel, in Monk Bar, York cost £10 from the hotel reception or at sittingroomcomedy.com
