A SHOP worker has been racially abused in York city-centre.
North Yorkshire Police say an employee at a shop in Coney Street was abused at about 3.30pm on Saturday.
They have refused to name the shop, saying they want to protect the victim's anonymity.
There have been widespread reports nationally of increased racist incidents in the aftermath of the Leave campaign's victory in the EU referendum on Thursday, however a spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said there was nothing to suggest the York incident was related to the referendum.
Nobody has yet been arrested over the incident.
Can you help?
Police ask anyone who witnessed racist abuse in Coney Street on Saturday to phone them on 101, quoting reference 12160111860.
