A CHOIR will perform a programme of Finnish contemporary music at York Cemetery chapel in July.
The UK-based choir Enkelit are paying a return visit to the city on Sunday, July 3, after having sung previously at Illuminating York and the National Centre for Early Music.
Spokeswoman Caroline Lewis said: “Enkelit is Finnish for angels and the sound that this group produces is pure heaven.
“Their programme is strongly influenced by folk traditions and characterised by haunting beauty and melancholy.”
The choir will be performing at 2pm at the cemetery chapel off Cemetery Road, with tickets on the door costing £8 to include light refreshment and proceeds in aid of Friends of York Cemetery. People are invited to bring a picnic.
