CONFECTIONERY giant Nestlé, which employs hundreds of people in York, has responded to the UK's decision to leave the EU.

The company's chair had said two years ago that any decision to leave would put UK investment at risk, and this morning York Central MP Rachael Maskell raised concerns about the impact of the Leave vote on local employers, inculding Nestlé.

In a statement this morning, a company spokeswoman said: "We note the outcome of the referendum in the UK and the decision of the British electorate to leave the European Union.

"The practical consequences of this decision will become clearer in the coming months. Nestlé will continue to operate in the normal course and will follow developments closely.”
