A CONSERVATIVE councillor who was suspended by his party for comments he made on facebook after the death of MP Jo Cox has now been expelled.

Dominic Peacock, who represents the Minster and Woodmansey ward on East Riding of Yorkshire Council, shared a story about the fundraising appeal set up in the MP's memory, and added an offensive comment suggesting he would not make a financial donation.

Council leader Stephen Parnaby, who said yesterday he had suspended Clrr Peacock from the Tory group following 'inappropriate and offensive comments,' announced today that at a meeting of the full group, it had been agreed to expel him with immediate effect.

He said yesterday that all people in public life, irrespective of politics should be united in condemning the 'fatal and dreadful' attack on Jo Cox.

The Press has tried to contact Cllr Peacock, but he has not been available.
