YORK Round Table has donated £6,200 to Carecent, the charity which provides a centre for homeless and disadvantaged people.
The funds were raised through a number of activities over the past year, including a charity beer festival held at York Brewery.
Carecent, which operates from the Central Methodist Church in St Saviourgate, York, opens every morning to provide breakfasts and a safe, warm environment.
Part of the donation will be spent on projects to improve facilities, including a new toilet and washing facilities for visitors.
Carecent project leader Nicky Gladstone said the donation would make a big difference.
York Round Table chair Oliver Bell-Syer said “Carecent is a great charity and we were all extremely impressed with the work that they do.”
He said the organisation would focus its fundraising activities this year on combatting homelessness again, with another charity beer festival at York Brewery on July 1 and 2, featuring 20 award winning beers, ciders and perries.
