A ROAD in Scarborough has been closed due to corrosion of a Victorian bridge.
The footbridge over Vernon Road has deteriorated to the point where a metal strut appears to be hanging loose from the structure.
Tina Ramsden runs the Hole In The Wall pub next to the bridge, and said the venue had to be closed as well.
She said: "We were told at midday on Tuesday, just before we were about to open
"The road and pavement is blocked off both ends, and we are not allowed to let customers in through the garden at the back, so unfortunately through no fault of our own we are not open today."
Ms Ramsden said she hoped the pub would be able to reopen today (WEDS), but urged customers with queries to phone 07544775051.
