A MAN has been taken to hospital after being hit by a taxi in York.

North Yorkshire Police were called to Hull Road at about 9.45pm on Sunday, to reports of a man sitting in the road.

On arrival, they discovered the 20-year-old had been struck by a passing taxi. The taxi driver had stopped at the scene.

A police spokesman said an ambulance was called, and the man was taken to York Hospital with what were described as minor injuries, including cuts to his head and bruising to his ribs.

The spokesman said the driver had not been arrested, but it was possible further investigation could be carried out.
