TALENTED choristers from Norway and Finland have performed in York.

Seven Norwegian and Finnish choirs, along with one English choir, began with a choral singing competition at the Guildhall in St Helen's Square.

One of the choirs involved in the Scandinavian Choir Festival involved 14 children from Lapland, aged between eight and 14.

Youngsters also performed in an open air concert held in King's Square and serenaded the crowds with renditions of pop and folk tunes, and later sung at Central Methodist Church alongside the 60 voice York Philharmonic Male Voice Choir.

This was followed by a series of church performances at places of worship including St Denys, St Columbas, St Clements and Holy Trinity Churches.
