SHERIFF Hutton Bridge saw off the challenge of second-placed Hull as the top two in the Hunters ECB Yorkshire Premier League North went head to head.

Meanwhile, Stamford Bridge remain hot on the heels of the leaders after an easy victory over Castleford, while Harrogate and York fought out a thrilling encounter which went down to the final over.

Leaders Sheriff Hutton Bridge remain unbeaten after an unbroken stand of 119 between Adam Fisher (84no) and Rob Pinder (45no) guided them to a seven-wicket win at Hull.

Yorkshire spinner Karl Carver took 6-25 as the visitors were all out for 200, which included 40 from Jack Storey and 54 by Chris Grey.

Louis Fisher (39) got the reply off to a good start before the fourth-wicket pair condemned the former pace-setters to a second consecutive defeat.

Stamford Bridge also stay undefeated following an eight-wicket win after bowling out hosts Castleford for just 89.

Only three bowlers were used by the visitors, Dominic Rhodes (3-27), Luke Robinson (3-19) and Donovan Sinclair (4-37) combining to devastating effect as only David Wainwright (39) and Liam Hyde (12) reached double figures. Sam Tennant made an unbeaten 60 from 51 balls as Bridge then raced to victory inside 19 overs.

Arguably the game of the day took place at St George's Road, where Harrogate sneaked home by one wicket against York with three balls to spare.

The visitors were restricted to 167-9, youngster Richard Brown (41no) rescuing the visitors after they had slumped from 82-2 to 90-5 in six overs, despite 32 and 30 from Liam and Ryan McKendry respectively.

In reply, Kiwi Dion Sanson (68) and Jonathan Tattersall (24) shared a stand of 70 for the second wicket and the hosts appeared set for a comfortable victory before spin pair Dan Woods (4-29) and Tom Pringle (2-50) bowled in tandem for 32 overs to set up a dramatic finale, with Tom Geeson-Brown striking the winning boundary after the ninth wicket had fallen with the scores level.

Yorkshire Academy moved up to third as they inflicted a sixth defeat in seven matches on hosts Scarborough.

The visitors, led by captain Matthew Waite (74), posted an impressive 272-5, Mosum Hussain (61) also contributing a half-century to the total which included 43 from Harry Brook and an unbeaten 37 by Yaaser Imtiaz.

James Logan, the league's leading wicket-taker, added a further three to his total but any hopes the away side had of collecting maximum points were dashed by Mark Tennant's unbeaten 52, spanning 32 overs, after opener Ollie Stephenson had departed for 44 and the home side reached 175-6 by the close.

Acomb heaped more misery on bottom side Dunnington, Matthew Dale scoring 93 as the hosts won with almost ten overs in hand.

Earlier, Adam Sutcliffe (32) and Tom Loten (45) had got the visitors off to a good start with a stand of 73, Jack Bolam adding 38 as the visitors finished on 195-7, Mark Bell taking 3-45.

A century stand between Dale and skipper Andy Tute (32) then set the home side on their way to a six-wicket win, Dave Brent (3-47) picking up three of the wickets to fall.

Three wickets each from Andrew Horner (3-24) and Josh Jackson (3-27) helped Woodhouse Grange bowl out visitors Driffield Town for 128, which included 56 from Danny Broumpton.

That was enough to secure victory by 75 runs after Andrew (48) and Chris Bilton (46) had helped their side reach 203-8, despite five wickets from Jamie Hopper (5-52).
