CHILDREN from Heworth Primary School were treated to a classical performance in York.
The live performance from the award-winning ensemble Consone Quartet was staged at the National Centre for Early Music.
The event was staged by NYMAZ, the youth music development charity, and was broadcast over the internet to classrooms across England to Key Stage 2, 3 and 4 pupils, with a focus on those in rurally isolated areas who have fewer opportunities to enjoy live music events.
Delma Tomlin, director of The National Centre for Early Music, said: “This is a great opportunity to join together these exceptional young professionals with youngsters across the UK. Playing a musical instrument to a high standard takes time and dedication and it is inspiring for both primary aged children to work with young adults who are only already making their way in a professional world – and for the young professionals to know that they are making a difference.”
Consone Quartet play music from the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries on instruments that were used in that time.
