A VEHICLE fire attended by fire crews just after midnight last night is suspected to have been deliberate.
The 4x4 diesel vehicle was found in a layby on the A169. Fire crews were called at 12.26am on Friday, May 27.
When they got to the scene, around a mile from Malton, they found the vehicle 'well-alight', though a fire spokesperson said that an attempt had been made to extinguish the fire with CO2 prior to their arrival.
Crews from Malton attended, using breathing apparatus and a hose reel to extinguish the fire.
Police also attended, and the fire spokesperson said that the incident has been left in the hands of the police as they suspect the fire was started deliberately.
