EIGHTIES pop pin-up Adam Ant will stride into York on Tuesday to perform his iconic, swashbuckling 1980 album Kings Of The Wild Frontier live and in sequence plus much, much more.

This will be the first time he has presented the songs in this format, many of the album tracks never having been played live by the Adam & The Ants frontman, now 61.

The triple platinum-selling Kings Of The Wild Frontier dominated the British  charts in late 1980 and 1981, spending more time in the top slot than any other album at the time en route to notching up eight million sales and global recognition.

Adam Ant's 14-date spring tour is a chance to hear the breakthrough tribal-drumming single Dog Eat Dog, the anthemic Ant Music and the riotous title song, alongside such album tracks as Feed Me To The Lions, Los Rancheros, Ants Invasion, Killer In The Home, Don't Be Square (Be There) and Jolly Roger.

Hit numbers, such as Stand & Deliver, Goody Two Shoes and Vive le Rock, will feature too, along with selections from Adam Ant's back catalogue, in particular from his 1979 post-punk debut album Dirk Wears White Sox.

He last played on The Press soil at Bridlington Spa in April 2013 on his XII BD tour and the year before he had a headline slot at the Galtres Festival at Crayke. His last appearance in York was on the Adam Ant and The Good, The Mad & The Lovely Posse Tour at The Duchess in June 2011.

The 2016 tour coincides with last Friday's release of a 35th anniversary four-disc deluxe edition of Kings Of The Wild Frontier, personally curated and re-mastered by Adam Ant for Sony Music/Legacy Recordings.

The gold box contains two CDs of the original album, B-sides, previously unreleased studio demos, rough cuts and rare and unissued live recordings. The other two discs comprise a DVD of promo videos, BBC television appearances, Adam & The Ants Live In Tokyo in 1981 and a short promotional video, Ant Invasion, a mini documentary of the first Adam & The Ants US tour in 1981.

Exclusive to the super-deluxe edition box is a 180g gold vinyl LP of the newly remastered album. In addition, the box set contains facsimile memorabilia such as a replica Ant Catalogue; Antwarrior membership card; prints; posters; photos; press adverts; Antclub membership forms and a 36-page The Story of the Album booklet, including detailed liner notes and track annotations written by Adam Ant.

A two-CD deluxe version is available too, as well as a black vinyl LP edition that includes the replica Ant Catalogue.

Tickets are still on sale for Tuesday's 7.30pm concert on 0844 854 2757, at yorkbarbican.co.uk or in person from the Barbican box office.
