BACK by popular demand, actor, singer and Eighties' icon Jason Donovan returns for a solo tour, celebrating his 1989 debut album, Ten Good Reasons.

The Australian star of stage and screen, best known for his breakout role in Neighbours, has had four UK number one singles and starred in numerous musicals, most prominently as the titular character in Joseph And The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat in the early 1990s.

Kicking off the evening, supporting act Mon Amie, of The X Factor fame, delivered an enthusiastic mix of pop songs that went over well with the audience, with an a cappella cover of the late Prince’s Purple Rain being a particular highlight.

Donovan himself entered to uproarious cheering, smiling from ear to ear in a fabulous sequin jacket. The former soap-opera heartthrob had almost the entire audience on their feet in an instant, dancing and cheering and screaming. Clearly having a lot of fun on stage, his warm presence and charm were hard to resist, especially during some very amusing anecdotes between songs.

The real tour de force, however, came in the second half, where Donovan proceeded to sing every song from his Ten Good Reasons album in one unbroken sequence, demonstrating not only some impressive stamina but also a genuinely impressive feat of showmanship.

Jason Donovan gave an extremely entertaining – and enjoyably cheesy – throwback to the heyday of 1980s' pop, making for a fun night for all involved.
