TOGETHER with other ward councillors, I visited Canon Lee School recently and was very impressed by the attitude of both staff and students, who are working hard to improve the image of the school.

I also attended a presentation by Brian Crosby, executive principal of Manor Academy, who explained to parents the plans for the future of Canon Lee when it (together with Burton Green and Forest of Galtres Primary Schools) becomes part of the Hope Learning Trust in September.

I was very impressed by his enthusiasm and by the vision he put forward to, as he put it, “restore Canon Lee to its rightful place at the centre of a proud community”.

Being reassured that both Canon Lee and Manor will continue to keep their separate identities but will benefit from this change, I am happy to support this initiative and would urge parents who may remain unconvinced to attend any future presentations or contact the Hope Learning Trust, either direct at consultation@hopelearningtrust.org or via Canon Lee or Manor Schools.
