YORK singer-songwriters Disco Mister will be among the acts taking part at a fundraising gig in Haxby next month.

Live Lounge at The Cottage takes place on June 18 and is an evening of music, comedy and poetry in support of the Haxby and Wigginton Methodist Church's Opening New Doors appeal.

The fundraising event will be headlined by World Poetry Slam Champion Harry Baker, who has toured the world with his fast-paced poems, wordplay and humour, with a five star show at the Edinburgh Fringe, and performances on Radio 2, in the USA, the Far East and Australia.

Also in the line-up is singer-songwriter Rachael Langtree, from Haxby.

The Opening New Doors appeal is a building project which aims to develop the church and make it more accessible and user-friendly for the community and visitors.

Ten per cent of the money raised will also be shared between charities All We Can, Dementia Forward, York Arc Light, A Rochas International and Livability.

Tickets cost £11, £7 for concessions or full-time students, or £5 for under 14s accompanied by an adult, and are on sale at Aroma Coffee Shop, The Village, Haxby or by emailing squacco15@gmail.com
