POLICE are asking for witnesses to a car crash on the A64 in which a man sustained hip injuries.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police confirmed that "the injured person was a man in his 30s. He sustained hip injuries and was taken by road to James Cook, Middlesbrough."

The spokesperson added that the incident involved a Jaguar XJ6.

They said: "Anyone who witnessed the incident, or saw anything significant in the moments leading up to is, is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting incident number NYP-05052016-0150."

THE A64 eastbound near Malton has been re-opened following a serious crash earlier.

At least one person was injured in the crash, which happened on the eastbound carriageway near the Old Malton roundabout, between the B1248 and the A169, at around 11.20am on Thursday, May 5.

Police and fire services attended the scene, with fire crews using cutting equipment to free the person, who had been trapped in their car with suspected pelvic injuries.

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance helicopter also attended.

Police closed the eastbound carriageway and one lane of the westbound carriageway, before re-opening one of the eastbound lanes at around 1.15pm.

The road was re-opened fully around two hours later, at 3.20pm.

Traffic queues were estimated by Highways England to be around 1.5 miles long.
