YORK'S Alexandra Chenery is preparing to tackle her first 10k trail run in aid of the Keep Your Pet charity.

The 26-year-old, the EAL (English as an additional language) co-ordinator at Pocklington School, will compete in the Ravenscar Coastal 10k on Sunday, May 8.

Keep Your Pet is a unique collaboration between the York branches of Age UK and the RSPCA.

Using a team of local volunteers, Keep Your Pet provides a pet care service to older and vulnerable residents in the York and Selby areas, offering help such as pet fostering, dog walking and pet feeding, at times of illness or other emergencies.

Alexandra said: "I'm delighted to be taking part in this run to raise vital funds for Keep Your Pet, so if anyone is around Ravenscar on May 8, come and cheer me along. I'll be the one in the Keep Your Pet get-up."
