Staff from a boutique have handed over £8,000 to a North Yorkshire care farm.

Staff from the Joules store in Harrogate donated the cash which was raised in shops across the country to Nuzzlets which is based in Great Ouseburn just outside Harrogate. The money came from the sale of two specific items of clothing from the kids' Little Joule collection in 2015, with five per cent going to the charity.

Mary Chapman, co-creator of Nuzzlets, said: “Here at Nuzzlets we rely on generous donations to ensure that we’re helping our visitors as best we can and we cherish our partnership with Joules, which we’ve enjoyed for a number of years now. Thanks to Joules’ support, the mobile classroom and woodland classroom can go from an idea to a reality.”

Nuzzlets provides animal therapy for children with life-limiting illnesses, disabilities and special needs, as well as adults with mental health problems and elderly people. It is one of just 200 care farms in the UK and their therapy work helps to improve motor skills, enhance communication, raise self-esteem, reduce anxiety and loneliness and provide interaction with others.

The donation will be used to create a new mobile classroom and a new woodland classroom.
