A YORK businesswoman is gearing up for a charity bike ride through Vietnam and Cambodia.

Caroline Higginbottom, who runs dress agency Seasons, will cycle almost 500km across rough terrain and in nearly 40 degree heat in November.

She is taking part in the sixth Women v Cancer Challenge which will support the work of three charities: Breast Cancer Care, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action.

Caroline was motivated to take part after attending a charity ball raising money for the Yorkshire Rows – four women who completed a transatlantic row in February.

She said: “At the time, I was happy working as a personal stylist and being a mum, but listening to the women speak about the trials and tribulations they had faced during their training, and the adventure that awaited them at sea, I felt inspired to have my own adventure.

“Many people say they are going to do things, they mean to do them, but life gets in the way, and they never do.”

When Caroline saw a magazine advert for the Asian cycling challenge, she grabbed the opportunity.

She is hosting her own charity ball at The De Grey rooms in York on Friday, June 3 where the Yorkshire Rows will be guests of honour.

Tickets for the Grey Ball are now on sale from Caroline on 07825 566355 or by email at seasonsyork@outlook.com.

You can also support the Women v Cancer Challenge by donating sponsorship on Caroline’s JustGiving page https://www.justgiving.com/Caroline-Higginbottom or raffle prizes for the ball.
