SOME of the allegations against the European Union are stupid and wrong.
In recent letters the EU has been blamed for the closure of a local store, rules that prevent the UK nationalising its steel industry, and not allowing us to control our own borders.
Still, nowadays it is the norm to sacrifice rational argument and truth on the altar of expediency, especially if the subject is the in or out referendum on EU.
When the flimsy and bogus arguments of the Brexit brigade are challenged and dismantled, very often they resort to a gut feeling based on a casual racism and fear of the foreigner.
David Cameron wasted 30p on a pamphlet sent to such people. Urging them to remain in the EU is futile.
