THE verdict was predictable from the moment a new inquest was declared (The Press, April 27).

What puzzles me is the way the English language is distorted.

An inquest is to determine how a person died, not how the situation changed before or after the death.

If a juggernaut runs into a crowd, the cause of any death is the impact of the vehicle on the body. The same principle is true whether the juggernaut is a vehicle or 500 rampaging football fans.

My opinion will never change as to how those football fans met their deaths.
