A CYCLING cafe in York has been allowed to extend the opening of its al fresco seating area.
Bicis y Mas on Walmgate was originally given only temporary permission to have tables and chairs in a rear courtyard. Now that permission has been made permanent with an additional hour on the time the cafe is allowed to keep the tables open outside each day.
Some neighbours in St Denys Court, which overlooks the courtyard, had objected saying that the noise created by customers in the yard was detrimental to their residential amenity.
However, councillors voted to grant the permanent planning permission at the meeting on Thursday, saying that the new closing time for 7pm Monday to Saturday, and 5.30pm on Sundays, meant there would not be noise disturbance in the evening.
