AMERICAN jazz and swing trio Hot Club Of Cowtown release their ninth studio album, Midnight On The Trail, on Friday

Their romantic and rustic vintage mix of 12 Western swing songs and cowboy ballads has been hand collected from the songbooks of Bob Wills, Johnny Mercer, Cindy Walker and Gene Autry to reflect the spirit and joy of the American West.

Hot Club sizzle through Mercer's I’m An Old Cowhand (From The Rio Grande) and the Wills standard Take Me Back To Tulsa and cast a spell under a starry western sky with ballads ranging from from Silver On The Sage to Autry's There's An Empty Cot In The Bunkhouse Tonight.

The chance to slow-dance comes with the old-fashioned elegance of Walker's Blue Bonnet Lane and Billy Hill's Call Of The Canyon, while anyone yearning to meet a lost love again one day will be drawn to An Old Watermill By A Waterfall.

Hot Club guitarist Whit Smith, fiddler Elana James and bassist Jake Erwin not only play the familiar concert territories, they also tour for the US State Department as musical ambassadors to Azerbaijan, Armenia, the Republic of Georgia and the Sultanate of Oman and have been on the road with Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson too.

In early 2011, they opened seven nights of Roxy Music’s For Your Pleasure tour around Britain, where they also have played the Glastonbury Festival and Cambridge Folk Festival, appeared on BBC2's Later...With Jools Holland and New Year's Eve Hootenanny and performed on the Radcliffe and Maconie Show on BBC 6Music and Bob Harris Country on BBC Radio 2.

Hot Club back up this week's album release with a British tour from March 30 to April 17 that takes in a sold-out show at Selby Town Hall on April 3 at 8pm.
