YOUNGSTERS enjoyed some bedtime boogie with a duvet dance to promote St Leonard’s Hospice’s Midnight Walk.

Perform dance group members, aged eight to 12, entertained shoppers in Parliament Street, York, with their routine on Saturday afternoon.

The Midnight Walk is a ladies’ only event that raises funds for the hospice on Tadcaster Road.

Walkers of all ages and abilities will tackle a five or 10 mile route through the city, starting at York College at midnight on June 4.

This year's walk is themed as a pyjama party, so a duvet dance was the ideal promotional stunt.

Emma Bassett, from Perform, said: “We’re delighted to help promote the Midnight Walk. It’s good to do something so different for a great cause and we got many curious onlookers.”

Nicky Turnbull, community fundraiser at St Leonard’s Hospice, said: “We always have a theme for the Midnight Walk and this year it’s a huge pyjama party, so the duvet dancers are a great way of promoting the event.

"Seeing hundreds of our supporters walking through the city in pyjamas at midnight will be quite an experience, and a really fun way to raise funds for the work carried out here at the hospice.”
