A YORK MP will call for changes to the guardianship laws in Parliament later this month.
Julian Sturdy, MP for York Outer, will urge the Government to make changes to the guardianship law to make it easier for families of missing people to deal with their finances.
Peter Lawrence, father of missing York chef Claudia Lawrence, said: "I am very grateful that Julian has managed to get a debate on this urgent matter for the 2,500 families each year who are affected by someone going missing.
"The Government is not really taking the issue seriously but it is good to have such cross-party support in both houses in parliament to put pressure on them to bring forward legislation as soon as possible."
The debate will take place on Wednesday, March 23.
