A RESIDENT at a York care home has celebrated her 100th birthday by enjoying a fish and chips lunch with fellow residents.
Ivy Wadsworth, who lives at the RMBI care home, Connaught Court in Fulford, was also presented with a card and flower bouquet by the Lord Mayor of York, Cllr Sonja Crisp, and the Lord Mayor’s Consort, Ian Crisp.
A home spokeswoman said Mrs Wadsworth was born and raised in Huddersfield, and left school at the age of 14. "Her father was a cold storage worker and her mum had a shop selling cotton and silk for embroidery," she said.
"Ivy went on to become an accomplished dressmaker, specialising in wedding dresses and married at the age of 26. Her husband Raymond was a joiner and ran his own business."
