THE Grand Hotel triumphed 16-13 in a charity football match against York colleagues Hotel Indigo.

As both hotels are part of the Splendid Hospitality Group, it prompted them to organise a five-aside game at York Sports Village.

Hotel Indigo’s charity is York Against Cancer, while The Grand Hotel is backing Independent Domestic Abuse Services (IDAS).

The match and an accompanying raffle raised £40, which will be split between the two charities.

It is hoped it will be the first of many fundraising events.

Hotel Indigo guest relations manager Helder Lopes said: “It was a small attendance, due to the weather, but we still managed to get a small amount of money raised for charity.

“Hopefully, we can do it again soon with more attendance and more money raised.”
