HUGE crowds lined the route of the East Coast mainline on Thursday, to see the famous Flying Scotsman travel from King's Cross to York.
Thousands of people caught a glimpse of the locomotive, and many captured stunning photos and videos.
But spare a thought for Ryan Allen and others who gathered at Little Bytham in Lincolnshire.
They thought they had an ideal view. And then this happened:
Ryan wrote on twitter: "I had a feeling this would happen."
The story may yet have a happy ending though. A few hours later, Virgin tweeted this spectacular offer:
