NORTH Yorkshire songwriter Alistair Griffin is heading out on the road this month for seven dates that take in the Post Office Club, Marygate, York, tonight.

To coincide with The Tour Of Absolution, Alistair is releasing a new limited-edition EP, Eye Of The Beholder, featuring four new Griffin compositions, Chasing The Sun, Heroes, Someday and Absolution, all recorded at Oakwood Studios, in Strensall, the first three late last year, the fourth only last week.

Alistair's prowess as a writer of epic songs for the sporting arena continues to spread, now on a global scale, with the International Olympic Committee being the latest organisation to use him for a soundtrack. Last year, the IOC selected his song The One to accompany their highlights package of the last four Olympic Games, including the spectacular opening ceremony for London 2012.

The BBC chose Alistair's The Greatest as the soundtrack to Serena Williams's Wimbledon triumph and NBC soundtracked the biggest winter event in North America, the Stanley Cup, with Alistair's Always Number One, watched by an estimated television and online audience of more than 12 million people. The song also won Sentric Music's prestigious Soundtrack of The Year 2015. Meanwhile, Just Drive remains the ever present theme tune for Sky Sports' Formula One coverage.

More new material is in the pipeline. In the meantime, Alistair will perform all the sporting hits, EP songs and other Griffin numbers tonight in York, where he lives.

The Tour Of Absolution is visiting the north, south, east and west for gigs in pubs, clubs, forges and a brewery. "There'll be hugs and pints, brewing tips and possibly some bishops and actresses," says Alistair. "I'll be bringing some great artists along with me."

Tickets for tonight are available at thelittleboxoffice.com/alistairgriffin and on the door from 7.30pm
