THE Jorvik Viking Festival has drawn to a close with a parade and battle in the Eye of York.
Organisers said about 1,000 people followed the parade to the battlefield near Clifford's Tower yesterday, one of the largest audiences they had had for the event.
"It has been a superb week for the Jorvik Viking Festival," said a spokesman.
"Ticket sales for this year's events have been higher, year on year, across the board, with tickets for the finale selling out on Friday."
