AMATEUR player Lee Copley won't have far to go in the bid to land a luxury five-day trip to Turkey.
Copley carded a nett 59 to win the Sandburn Hall club qualifying competition of the PGA National Pro-Am Championship and now goes to the regional final at York's Fulford GC on July 5 partnered by Sandburn Hall pro Simon Appleton.
The winners of the 16 regional finals will go through to the Grand final at the Antalya GC in Turkey in December.
Say it's so Joe
SANDBURN Hall seven-handicapper Joe Barrett became the first player to win York Squash Club's President's Day tournament twice in its 11-year history.
In gusting winds, Barrett posted a superb gross 74 on his home course, where he finished two ahead of Brian Eccles (Forest of Galtres). Eccles took the chairman's prize with 35 points ahead of Duncan Rotherham (Easingwold) on 33.
Adam's the top man
ADAM Bell rung out a victorious chime as he defied a fierce wind to produce a superb round of a nett 63 to win Forest Park GC's Committee Cup by three shots from his nearest rival.
Bowl is just off Pat
The Fulford Rose Bowl first qualifying round went to Pat Boden who had the lowest gross of 90 and the best nett score of 74, three shots better than closest challenger Dorothy Petch.
