TALENTED musicians will join other youngsters for a world-class orchestral workshop.

Violinists Lilly Ho and Isabella Watson, from The Mount Junior School, York, will perform with the National Children’s Orchestra this summer.

Musicians are invited into the orchestra based purely on merit, however, the girls will face strong competition from around 110 other young violin players.

Lilly and Isabella will play in the Under 11 and Under 10 orchestra respectively.

Kate Ho, Lilly's mum, said: "We are extremely proud of Lilly and her talent, she is very dedicated to her music and in fact she was also with the NCO last year.

Isabella’s mother, Dr Sabrina Chai of the University of York, added: "We are delighted that Isabella has the opportunity to play with other talented young musicians.

"Learning music from a young age improves children’s team work ethic, their mental development and personal time management skills."
