IT was a quieter day than normal at a York primary School - as children took part in a sponsored silence.
Year six pupils at at Carr Junior School in Acomb held a sponsored silence to raise money for the charity Help for Heroes.
As part of the Archbishop of York's Leadership Award children also held toy stalls, cake stalls and set up games to play including "guess the number of toy soldiers in the jar" and a raffle. In total their efforts raised over £574.
Caroline Ryder, the head of Carr Junior School, said: "I'm very proud of the children for raising this incredible amount and grateful to the whole school community for supporting this great cause."
