A MAN has admitted throwing a smoking grenade on to the A64 in North Yorkshire.
Jake Ellis Sarup, 22, pleaded guilty to causing a public nuisance by his actions on September 15.
York Crown Court heard that he threw a smoking grenade onto the A64 at Sherburn near Malton.
He had originally been charged with endangering road users but the prosecution changed the charge after he put forward a defence that his action had been unintentional.
Sarup, of Foxholes near Driffield, will be sentenced by Recorder Richard Wright QC on April 4 at York Crown Court and was released on bail until then while probation officers prepare a report on him.
The judge told him he had not ruled out jailing him, but added: "You heard me say I want the probation officer to concentrate on your willingness and ability to do unpaid work for the community."
